  Entertainment Centre in city centre airport land

  With a translucent style similar to the Khan Shatyr in Astana (http://www.khanshatyr.com/pages.php?l=01) to allow for natural lighting and appropriate geothermic temperature control during all four seasons. It would great to house restaurants, winter themed stores etc, in conjunction with the tobogganing hills, skating areas and parks either in the city centre airport lands or somewhere in the river valley in conjunction ...more »

  With a translucent style similar to the Khan Shatyr in Astana (http://www.khanshatyr.com/pages.php?l=01) to allow for natural lighting and appropriate geothermic temperature control during all four seasons. It would great to house restaurants, winter themed stores etc, in conjunction with the tobogganing hills, skating areas and parks either in the city centre airport lands or somewhere in the river valley in conjunction with some of the other projects mentioned here. Architecturally unique, a Native american-ized version of Khan Shatyr could also form part of Edmonton's tourism backbone.

  Northern Lights Childrens' Story Pods

  One of the great things about living up north is the magic of northern lights. One idea could be to create a small canvas dome low to the ground (maybe 8-10 feet high) ringed by a small snow / ice wall with entrance/exit. Inside the cavas igloo, there could be space for about 20-30 children to sit/lie down on padded matts to watch a series of northern lights stories, learn about other cultures, and warm up via small space ...more »

One idea could be to create a small canvas dome low to the ground (maybe 8-10 feet high) ringed by a small snow / ice wall with entrance/exit. Inside the cavas igloo, there could be space for about 20-30 children to sit/lie down on padded matts to watch a series of northern lights stories, learn about other cultures, and warm up via small space heater. Stories could be projected onto the outside of the canvas roof. Multiple story pods could be sprinkled along / in the river valley with other complimentary winter events, programs, facilities.
